Dozens of cancelled and delayed flights marked the first 24 hours of the snow blockade at Sofia Airport. Wednesday night the passengers of Wiz Air coming from London and Barcelona landed in Skopje instead of Sofia. AUA flight from Vienna had to return to Schwechat Airport. The passengers of Bulgaria Air coming from Frankfurt, London, Moscow and Brussels were luckier they arrived at Burgas airport and reached Sofia by bus. RAK Airways – the national carrier of United Arab Emirates is beginning scheduled flights to Kathmandu starting mid-Feb.According to information posted on RAK Airways´ website, the airline will fly to Kathmandu three times a week.Officials of Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal the aviation sector regulator – Wednesday confirmed that the Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation  has permitted the carrier to operate scheduled flights between Ras Al Khaimah – one of the seven Emirates of UAE – and Kathmandu. British Airways will restart flights from London to the Libyan capital Tripoli just over a year after it suspended the service due to violent clashes in the country.The airline said Monday that flights will fly three times a week from London Heathrow airport to Tripoli from May 1, 2012.British Airways had suspended flights to and from Tripoli in February 2011 as troops controlled by former leader Moammar Gadhafi clashed with protesters.
