Storm’s toll growing as more flights canceled

The winter weather means some unlucky passengers might have to spend the night at O’Hare International Airport.Chicago Department of Aviation spokeswoman Karen Pride says 1,375 flights have been canceled at O’Hare and over 300 have been canceled at Midway International Airport.

She says airlines have requested that about 200 cots be set up at the airport for anyone who might want to catch a little shut eye. The cots are set up in an area past security, so passengers can get some privacy.Airlines have also asked for passenger amenity kits containing tooth paste and tooth brushes.The National Weather Service has issued blizzard warnings and weather advisories throughout the state. The Chicago area could see wind gust up to 50 mph with wind chills well below zero.
