Caribbean Airlines has launched a non-stop service from Port-of-Spain to Kingston. The flight will operate twice weekly, and passengers will be able to get from Port of Spain to Kingston non-stop on Tuesdays and Thursdays. This non-stop service is in addition to the nine direct weekly flights already offered by the Trinidadian carrier, making it possible to get to Jamaica eleven times a week from Port-of-Spain, Trinidad.

Kingston has been a destination that Caribbean Airlines has served since its inception in 2007. We have served this market consistently in the last four years, and are excited to be able to offer even more convenient schedules which enable customers to arrive in Kingston early enough to conduct their business on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Let’s not forget that customers also have the option of leaving Kingston late in the afternoon up to four times weekly in order to facilitate that afternoon meeting or exam. This latest shift in our schedule demonstrates our flexibility to cater to customer demands when the need arises, yet still provide a truly reliable product that is undoubtedly the best in the region, said Laura Asbjornsen, Head of Corporate Communications at the Trinidadian carrier. In addition to the non-stop Kingston service, the airline recently launched a special summer service to Orlando, Florida which will operate during the months of July and August. The Orlando flights will be operating from Piarco International Airport to MCO International Airport in Orlando on Tuesdays and Fridays from 5 July until 2 September.

We continue to build on Caribbean Airlines’ commitment to increasing connectivity in the region. We are proud of this latest development, and know that this new service continues the much anticipated expansion into the Caribbean. Our product offering remains robust and we stand by our philosophy of giving the customer value for money when it comes to travel to, from, and within the Caribbean region. Regionally, we offer several extras for our UWI students such date change waivers along with extra baggage allowances and fare discounts where applicable. We pride ourselves on getting you to your destination on time. Our On-Time-Performance (OTP) continues to exceed industry benchmarks and in 2010 we reported a 91% OTP, added Asbjornsen.

Emirates underlined its commitment to Libya today by announcing that it will increase capacity on its Tripoli services by 40%. Starting from the 1st November, Emirates will introduce three additional weekly flights to Tripoli, bringing the total number of weekly flights to 10. The new EK 743 flight will depart Dubai at 1740hrs and arrive in Tripoli at 2210hrs every Monday, Thursday and Saturday. The return flight, EK 744, will depart Tripoli at 0010hrs and arrive in Dubai at 0720hrs on every Tuesday, Friday and Sunday. The number of passengers travelling with Emirates has been growing steadily since the launch of the Tripoli service a decade ago, said Haitham Al Battawy, Emirates Manager Libya. “We have received numerous requests from both business and leisure travellers within Libya to increase services and we are delighted to be able to respond with these additional flights.
Emirates will continue to offer its customers the best travel experience on the market and now Libyan travelers will have even more convenient access to Emirates’ network of over 100 global destinations, added Al Battawy.
Currently, Emirates’ flights to Tripoli are served by an Airbus A340- 500 aircraft that offers 258 seats in a three class configuration: 12 First Class Suites, 42 Business Class and 204 Economy Class seats, alongside 15 tonnes of belly-hold capacity. The new services will be served by an A300-200 aircraft offering 12 First Class, 42 Business Class and 183 Economy seats. The additional services will also enable SkyCargo to even better serve Libyan exporters by offering them greater capacity and more frequent connections with their target markets.Emirates offers passengers in Tripoli a range of online services including online check-in, the ability to pre-select seats and even request special meals based on specific dietary requirements. Customers also have the ability to check their baggage allowance, including the estimated cost calculator for excess baggage, check their flight status and even subscribe for mobile flight status alerts. The additional capacity announcement comes towards the end of a busy year for Emirates.

British Airways is to increase the number of flights to the Caribbean starting from March 27, 2011 due to the success of its longhaul leisure routes departing from London Gatwick. The airline continues to show its commitment to the Caribbean with a total of 15 destinations to choose from, making it even easier and more convenient than ever before for customers to book their dream Caribbean holidays.Flights to Barbados will increase from 10 to 12 services a week, Antigua will increase from five to six services a week and the St Lucia – Port of Spain service will increase to daily flights from five a week. For those seeking stunning rainforest scenery coupled with tumbling waterfalls and idyllic beaches St Lucia may be just the perfect island. The newest Caribbean destination British Airways’ extensive network is Cancun.which is already proven to become a steady customer favourite. It is as famous for its crystal clear seas and Mexican hospitality as it is for its countless archaeological like the famous Tulum ruins and Chichen Itza.British Airways is also increasing its flights to Tampa from five to seven a week, providing customers with the perfect gateway to visit Florida’s Gulf Coast to enjoy holidays in Florida , including hot spots such as Clearwater and St Petes, Fort Myers, Sarasota and Longboat Key, Naples, Marco Island and Sanibel Island. The airline features a choice of hotels from famous landmark venues to historic city centre hotels and properties in their Prestige Collection.

On October 2nd, at 01:35 a.m., Iberia’s first flight from Madrid to Cordoba will leave for the second-largest city in Argentina. Iberia will become the first European airline to fly non-stop this route. The first Iberia flight between Madrid Cordoba will depart fully booked. It is expected that nearly 70,000 passengers will fly on the route during the first year of operation. With the new flight, Iberia could raise the total number of passengers it carries between Spain and Argentina each year to above 500,000The opening of this route is expected to bring substantial benefits to Cordoba, Argentina’s second-largest city after the capital, Buenos Aires. It will facilitate business travel, tourism, and reuniting families with members on both sides of the Atlantic. Iberia cargo holds can carry Cordoba’s exports direct to Madrid for distribution throughout Europe,Iberia says. Thanks to this new flight, Iberia will increase 16% its seat offer to Argentina more than 1,000 additional flights a week In terms of seat capacity, this amounts to a 16% increase – or more than 1,000 additional seats per week. Argentina is therefore Iberia’s largest growth area in 2010. Currently, the Spanish airline offers 17 return flights between Spain and Argentina.Iberia will fly from Madrid to Cordoba and back on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, at a time that ensures good connections in Madrid to and from the 38 Iberia destinations in Spain and the rest of Europe.

People flying to Spain holiday villas on Wednesday with Ryanair will only be allowed to take carry-on luggage. The move is in response to strike action being carried out by Spanish air traffic control (ATC) wrokers that is expected to cause widespread disruption to flights in and out of the country.
Coming a week after the airline was forced to cancel over 250 flights after French ATC workers walked out, Ryanair is calling on the European Commission to take urgent action to prevent more industrial action.Ryanair wants European governments to follow the example of former US president Ronald Reagan, who sacked ATC workers for going on strike.Action must be taken at EU level to ensure that the right to strike is removed from essential services such as ATC and competition must be introduced across Europe’s ATC providers, said Ryanair’s Stephen McNamara. This, he added, will ensure that a strike in one country is not allowed to disrupt millions of passengers’ travel plans. The industrial action in France caused around half of all flights into the country to be cancelled.

New data from Hitwise puts Spain at the top as the most popular country searched for, for flights in the UK between May and July 2010. It comes as little surprise considering destinations like Tenerife, Malaga and Alicante featured highly on the searches. In fact, New York topped the list as the most searched for destination, accounting for 3.89% of all UK searches during that period. However, as a country, Spain won the plaudits.Spain earned 16.59% of all searches during the 12 week period. It testifies to the country’s appeal as a summer sun destination but, with the great weather set to continue into the winter, it is expected that cheap flights to Spain will remain popular. In the top ten destinations, cheap flights to Tenerife, Malaga, Alicante, Barcelona and Majorca all featured, cementing Spain’s position as the most searched for cheap flights destination. The short haul flight times, great value flight prices and range of places to fly to and stay at has helped to make Spain popular with holidaymakers searching for cheap flights.

It’s increasing the number of flights to key destinations, three of them in Spain. From November, it will have three weekly flights to Alicante and four each to Barcelona, Brussels, Frankfurt and Malaga.

According to Laszlo Tamas, the airline’s Sales & Marketing Manager for UK & Ireland, this will help to fill the gap left by the collapse of FlyGlobespan. We are very committed to the Scottish market. The airline carried just over 1.5 million passengers to 40 destinations from Edinburgh last year and claims to be on target to carry 2.5 million in the current year. Six of its 247 aircraft are based in the Capital. It says that no additional aircraft will be needed for the increased schedules.
