Ryanair begin flights to Plovdiv

Irish budget carrier Ryanair launched direct flights from London Stansted to the Bulgarian city of Plovdiv on November 2 2010, with tickets starting from 27.99 euro one way, Bulgarian media reported.Customers may register online, which costs five euro, while altering a flight date may cost from 35 to 55 euro, the statement said. Changing the name of the registration would cost from 100 to 150 euro, Dnevnik daily reported.The new route will bring Ryanair’s annual traffic at Plovdiv to about 30 000 passengers, while sustaining 30 local jobs permanently in the process.The news that the company will be operating to and from Plovdiv was reported early in 2010. Again, in May, Ryanair confirmed it was considering flying to and from Bulgaria’s second largest city starting September 2010, Bulgaria’s Deputy Economy and Tourism Minister Ivo Marinov was quoted as saying at the time by Bulgarian-language media.To launch flights to Bulgaria, Ryanair asked for lower landing fees at the country’s airports, Marinov said during a discussion in Parliament on Bulgarian tourism.
