JQ to increase flights to Melbourne

Qantas’ low-cost subsidiary, Jetstar is expected to put a spark in airline rivalry with reports that the carrier plans to unleash 48,000 extra seats per month out of Melbourne.Going up against budget airline, Tiger, the Australian carrier’s is said be planning to base one of two new aircraft at Melbourne’s Tullamarine Airport and commence up to four extra Melbourne flights to Cairns, Perth, Adelaide, Gold Coast, Brisbane and Launceston, the Herald Sun reported.

As well, the carrier is expected to also add two new daily to Sydney, bringing its service on the route up to eight times per day.Meanwhile over the weekend, some passengers flying with the Qantas subsidiary in and out of Darwin Airport faced cancellations after the carrier was forced to make repairs to one of its A321 aircraft, NT News reported.Up to four flights were said to be cancelled, with travellers notified by text message the day prior.
